Mars Area Elementary School is collecting gift cards to benefit Dixon Elementary School (Holly Ridge, N.C.), which is still recovering from damages sustained in the flooding caused by Hurricane Florence in early September.

 

“Since we are working hard to accept Rachel’s Challenge, we would like to show an intentional act of kindness to this school,” Todd Lape, principal, wrote in a letter to parents introducing the fundraiser. All gift card donations will be sent to Dixon Elementary for teachers and staff members to purchase supplies before their students return to school.

 

Donations of gift cards to major retailers (e.g. Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.) may be sent to school with students or dropped off at the school’s main office during school hours through Friday, Oct. 19. Parents are asked to place donations in an envelope marked “Dixon Elementary.”
