MAE Families,
I wanted to share an update regarding recess at MAE. The original plan of the students walking to the ball fields by the administration building needed to be adjusted as the Jersey Barriers that were to be installed on the Little Dipper Road were unable to be put into place due to the narrowness of the roadway. If the Jersey Barriers would have been installed, construction vehicles would not have been able to navigate the roadway due to their size. Without the Jersey Barriers, it would not have been safe to have students and staff move through an active construction zone each day.
As I communicated earlier, the current plan is to have the students play in the area in front of MAE and the adjacent field (when weather and conditions permit). Beginning today, April 7, in addition to the current recess plan, some classrooms will be able to access the Primary Center playground when it is not in use by PC classrooms for their scheduled recess on a rotating basis. Not all MAE classes will be able to access the PC playground due to schedule conflicts. The students who are not able to access the PC playground will continue with the current recess plan.
When the PC playground is being utilized for MAE recess, MAE students and staff will walk up the sidewalk to the PC playground for their recess and walk back down the sidewalk to MAE when recess is complete. This will allow for a greater variety of activities for students to participate in during their scheduled recess.
I appreciate your patience and understanding during this construction process. Allowing the students to play each day is a priority, but during this time of construction, safety is paramount as well.
Have a great day!
Mr. Todd Lape
Principal
