Five Mars Area School District students participated in the AGLOA (Academic Games Leagues of America) Tri-Bowl Regional Competition, held March 3-4 at Grove City College.
Mars Area Centennial School sixth-graders Ellie Kurnocik, Hannah Nam and Kristin Sadhu and Mars Area Elementary School fourth-graders Kendall Fonzi and Everly Northrop qualified for the Tri-Bowl by going undefeated in one or more AGLOA academic games, played earlier this year at Slippery Rock University.
In the LinguiSHTIKS game (March 3), sixth-graders Hannah Nam and Kristin Sadhu both went undefeated and the team tied for second place in its division. On March 4, sixth-grader Kristin Sadhu went undefeated in the Equations game.
The annual competition, open to students in Grades 4-12 at Butler, Lawrence and Mercer county schools, challenges students to improve their knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, social studies, creative mathematics, and more.
