Cross-Curricular Project Brings Artworks to Life

As part of a cross-curricular project, second-graders at Mars Area Elementary School are giving a voice to their art.

In their Art classes, the students created Eat’n Park Smiley Cookies out of clay, which they painted and glazed. In their Library/Media Studies classes, the third-graders completed a stretch-a sentence activity, writing a descriptive sentence to answer “What makes you smile?”

Then, in their STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) classes, the students are using the ChatterPix app to record their sentences, which will be spoken by talking versions of their cookies. The packaging for each students cookie will include a QR code that links to a video of their cookie explaining what makes them smile.
