Fourth-graders in Allison Loverher’s class at Mars Area Elementary School are now published authors, as they have completed a project to write and illustrate their own cookbook.

In November, each student was tasked with finding a holiday recipe that is important to them and their families. The students then set to work writing out their recipes and drawing pictures on paper provided by Studentreasures Publishing, to which the students’ work was sent to be compiled and printed.

In addition, the students practiced speeches, painted posters, and created menu placemats with explanations of their recipes and other fun activities in preparation for a Family Potluck / Publishing Party event on Jan. 10. The students invited parents/guardians and other family members to check out their published work and to sample the recipes that were included in the book.
