Mars Area Elementary School second-graders are joining in a collaborative, Pittsburgh-themed project in their art and STEAM classes.
The students are painting backdrops featuring the City of Pittsburgh, including Point State Park, the Fort Pitt Bridge, and Fort Duquesne Bridge. Second-graders are then painting incline railway tracks (to represent the Duquesne Incline) in the foreground and a separate incline railway car, which they are cutting out.
In their STEAM classes, the students will cut a slot along the painted railway tracks, where they will attach the incline cars and a mechanism to allow the cars to move up and down. For more information, call (724) 625-3161.
