Mars Girls Youth Basketball Association’s Fourth Grade Gold Team earned first place in the Fourth Grade Girls Division of the Lawrence County Youth Basketball League (LCDBL) Turkey Shootout 2024, held Nov. 16-17 at New Castle High School.

The team defeated New Castle 21-2 in the tournament semifinals and Penn-Trafford 11-8 in the final game, earning a spot in the 2025 Pennsylvania Middle School Basketball Championships, to be held March 14-16 in State College, Pa.

Team members include Mars Area Elementary School fourth-graders Laurel Breese, Talia Carrabba, Reese Denlinger, Leah DiGioia, Aria Freed, Norah Gehlmann, Sophia Adachi, Kylie Mincin and Mia Tirado.
