Light Night: An Art & Innovation Showcase

Numerous students and families turned out for Mars Area Elementary School’s inaugural “Light Night: An Art & Innovation Showcase” on May 16.

In addition to hightlighting artworks and projects created by students in Grades 2-4 in their Art and STEAM classes, the event also offered countless hands-on activities. Visitors could create paper lanterns, stop-motion animations, paint with light, plant sunflowers, perform shadow art, have their faces painted, and more. Photo opportunities and fun facts were also located throughout the school.
 
Participants could also check out second-graders’ projects from “Starry Night” Mobiles and Clay Polar Bears to Ocean Paper Weaving & Lighthouses and Origami Sailboats. Third grade projects included Paper Mache Ocean Animals, Ocean Shadow Art, Light Painting and Lighthouse Reflections; and fourth grade projects included Bio-luminescent Organism Art+Circuits, Tea Lights & 3D-Designed Clay Cutters/Stamps, and Sunglasses Self-Portraits.
