Mars Area Elementary School students, who are interested in joining the school’s newly established Best Buddies Club may sign up online at https://forms.bestbuddies.org/4895599 through Thursday, March 14.

The Best Buddies Elementary Schools program, open to students in Grades 3-4, teaches acceptance, value and inclusion to those with and without Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Through regular activities students will engage with one another and form friendships.  

The Best Buddies Club will meet from 3:40 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the last Monday of each month in the school’s cafeteria. Upcoming meetings will be held on Mondays, March 25, April 29 and May 20.

Each meeting will focus on a different theme (e.g. Being Kind, Being a Leader, Being Compassionate, etc.) and will include skits, arts and crafts, and more. Each activity will address one of four goals — Awareness, Engagement, Empowerment, Interaction.
