The team defeated Pine Richland (18-8) in the semifinal round and Shaler (20-9) in the final game to earn the title, “Champions of Best in the Burgh PYBL.” The team, which remained undefeated through the season, qualified to compete in the Pennsylvania Middle School Youth Basketball Championships to be held March 15-17 in State College, Pa.
Team members include Mars Area Elementary School third-graders Sophia Adachi, Laurel Breese, Talia Carrabba, Reese Denlinger, Leah DiGioia, Aria Freed, Norah Gehlmann, Kylie Mincin, Mila Roberman and Mia Tirado.
