Fourth-graders in Samantha Flanhofer’s class at Mars Area Elementary School are establishing business plans to market natural resources as part of an “Entrepreneur for a Day” social studies project.
Through Social Studies — Southeast Region, the students were asked to select and research a “resource” produced in a southern state (e.g. oranges in Florida, peaches in Georgia, thoroughbred horses in Kentucky, etc). The fourth-graders then developed a business to market and sell their selected resource.
Similar to the television show, “Shark Tank,” the students will offer their business plans to a group of “potential investors” via PowerPoint, video and oral presentations. The presentations will be held from noon to 12:40 p.m., Monday, April 11, through Thursday, April 14.
