Mars Area Elementary School collected 4,300 pairs of shoes as part of its second annual Shoe Drive fundraiser, held in February.

Fourth-graders in several Mars Area Elementary School classrooms spent several few weeks sorting and counting donations of gently worn, used or new shoes. The shoes were then donated to those living in developing nations through the social enterprise company, Funds2Orgs, which made a payment to the school based on the weight of the shoes collected.

This year’s Shoe Drive earned $1,618.80, which the school donated to The Lighthouse Foundation food bank (Middlesex Township). For more information, visit https://funds2orgs.com/.
