Elementary School Collects $1,700 in Coins for Cause

Mars Area Elementary School students and staff members collected more than $1,700 to benefit Mars Area Public Library through a one-day “Coin War,” held April 10.

Students in second through fourth grade were asked to place their coin donations in the designated bucket for their grade level. The second grade class donated the highest amount ($605) and will receive a prize to be redeemed during their Library/Media Studies classes.

The fundraiser was held during the school’s celebration of National Library Week (April 8-12). For more information, call (724) 625-3161.
