Mars Area Elementary School is collecting donations of non-perishable food items through Friday, Feb. 9, as part of a “Soup-er Bowl” Food Drive to benefit local families in need through Inspired Hearts & Hands.The drive is being organized by third-graders in Cetta Richards and Sarah Sondej’s classes, who, to introduce the event to their fellow students (Grades 2-4), offered a brief presentation about the food drive in each classroom and made posters to be displayed around the school.
Each day, the third-graders are sorting, counting and totaling the number of items donated in each grade level. The students then add the totals to a chart in the school’s lobby. Donations may be dropped off during school hours through Friday, Feb. 9, at the school’s main office.
